Judith

Loan description:

Judith Rosacena is 42 years old and single. She lives in the neighbourhood of Bitoon, which is in the town of Daanbantayan, Cebu province. Although Judith does not have any of her own children she supports her close relatives in the area, particularly her nieces and nephews. For the past 20 years, Judith has supported herself and her family by managing a small sari-sari (convenience) store. Judith has expanded her business over the years and now sells a variety of consumable products including bread, instant noodles and hygienic products. She recently bought a small glass shelf and put it inside her store where she can place most of her offerings. She is assisted by one relative, which is particulaly helpful when she needs to go into the town centre to buy stock. Judith once worked as a saleslady in a private establishment before she decided to build her own sari-sari store using her past earnings. The microfinance organisation, First Consolidated Cooperative has given Judith a loan to help her fill her store with enough varied merchandise to attract more customers and earn more income. She has been a member of the institution for more than a year. She plans to add new stocks of instant noodles, drinks and snacks to her store. Judith will save a part of her earnings to continue supporting her nieces and nephews in their studies and save part of it to fulfil her dream of owning a one-stop mini grocery store in their town someday. She wishes to repay the loan over a period of three months.
