Loan description:
Carmita Mazo is 46 years old and a single mother. She married when she was just 16 and has three children, two of whom are already adults and are married themselves. They live separately whilst the third is 13 years old, at home and attends the local school. Carmita worked even before she was married, while she was still at school herself as a domestic servant. When she married she worked from home raising chickens and also learned how to sew clothes. She felt useful contributing to the household's income and saved money for emergencies as well. Eventually about 15 years ago she opened a small sweet shop and ice cream parlour. She is now separated from her husband who left home some years ago. He does though still provide a small level of economic support for their son. Carmita hopes that her son can continue in education for as long as possible so that he may obtain professional employment some day. She has sought a loan in order to buy extra stock for her shop.
