Vanna Deb is 54 years old and a widow with three daughters, who are aged between 30 and 25 years old. All of Vanna's children are now married. Presently she lives in Korohal Village, which is in Ek Phnom district, Battambang province. Vanna has been running a business selling noodles in bulk for almost 20 years. She generally buys the noodles from Battambang town, which is nine kilometres away from her home and with her children's assistance uses her motorbike to deliver the noodles to Norea Market, five kilometres away from her home, where she sells them. She needs to wake up early every morning to sell her noodles and then travel to Battambang to buy stock to sell for the next day. To meet the high demand for her noodles from the market and while her working capital is currently limited, Vanna has sought a loan to buy more noodles in bulk to supply to the market. Vanna expects to pay this loan back over six months.
