Loan description:
Voeurt San is 42 years old and married to Chhunly Soum and they have three children, aged between 6 and 13 years old. All of Voeurt and Chhunly's children are currently studying at school. Voeurt and her family live in Sous Ey village, which is in Ek Phnom district, Battambang province. Voeurt and her husband are farmers and presently farm two hectares of rice paddy and the yield provides them with around three tonnes per hectare. One tonne of this rice is stocked for their own consumption and the remainder sold to a local trader. Aside from farming, they also plant watermelons on land that is 3,200 square meters. It takes about three months for their watermelons to be ready to be picked and sold at the local market. As their source of funds is currently limited, they have applied for a loan in order to buy good quality watermelon seeds, insecticide, weed killer and diesel for their water pump. They promise to pay back this agricultural loan over six months.
