Loan description:
Margie Tangaro is 46 years old and a widow with two sons who are aged 21 and 15. Her sons are currently studying in college and high school respectively. Margie also provides for her 14 year old niece and six year old granddaughter. After the death of her husband Ronilo, Margie decided to work on stabilising the operations of her market stall business because she knew that this would be the only source of income for her family. The stall which is located in Bantayan Tuyom, which is in the town of Carcar, Cebu province focuses on selling meat products like beef and pork as well as liver and chicken meat. This kind of business has a stable market because these meats are basic food commodities for Filipino people. In order to maintain the trust of her valued customers, Margie always makes sure she gives them fresh and good quality meat at a low cost. Margie has been a member of the microfinance organisation, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative for two years and has repaid two past microloans. She recently received her third loan, which she will use to maintain a good number of stock for her stall. She also wants to acquire some new equipment like knives and a weighing scale. She will use the income she generates for the education of her four dependents and save a part of it for future improvements to her stall. Margie intends to repay the loan over a short period of three months.
