Bosnia-Herzegovina
Loan description:
Armina Salkic is 51 years old and married. She lives with her husband in a place called Potocari near the city of Srebrenica. When the Bosnian War finished they returned to Potocari. Thanks to donations they were able to rebuild their home, but at the beginning it was very hard. They gradually managed to create a good life for themselves again. Armina's husband found a job in a local company, while Armina decided to start a business in farming to generate income. Today she raises chickens and has a greenhouse in which she grows several types of vegetables such as salad, spinach, tomatoes and cucumbers. She managed to develop the business further and now she has regular customers for all her produce. She is very proud of herself because she succeeded in starting her life over again and making her own business, which brings in significant income. Armina has already received one loan from the microcredit foundation Women for Women International and she has now applied for another. She needs this loan to expand her stocks of food for her chickens. She is a very modest and honest person.
