Loan description:
Horn Hun is 54 years old and married with six children. Her children are aged between 30 and 12 years old. Her two eldest children are married, her three younger children have their own jobs and her very youngest child is still at school. They live in Krous village, which is in Thmor Korl district, Battambang province. Horn and her husband, Thoeurm Chab, have been farmers for the past five years. Presently they own one hectare of rice paddy which gives them a yield of about two tonnes. One tonne of this is kept for their family's personal consumption and the remainder is sold to a trader. For the past three years they have owned a hand tractor to help with operations on the farm. This has helped reduce the costs of farming since they no longer need to hire a tractor. As their farming has been successful but they don't own enough land, they have decided to rent another four hectares of land to plant rice. With this land, they can now grow rice twice a year. Since their source of funds are limited, Horn has sought a nine month loan to help pay for the cost of renting more land and to buy diesel for their hand tractor and water pump.
