Loan description:
Evelyn Jumuad is 42 years old and married with five children. Her children are aged 20, 19, 17, 15 and 12. Her eldest daughter is currently studying at college while her youngest son is at elementary school. She lives together with her husband in the neighbourhood of Poblacion which is located in the town of Oslob, Cebu province. Evelyn sells fresh fish in the nearby public market where she rents a small stall every day. For the past seven years, she has been selling fish on a per kilo basis to customers in the market to help her husband support the family financially. The products she offers are from her husband who works as fisherman. However when demand is high, Evelyn also chooses to order a few stocks of fresh fish from other fishermen in the area. She always places the fish on small blocks of clean ice to maintain their freshness throughout the day. The microfinance organisation, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative has given her a small loan so Evelyn can purchase more fishing equipment for her husband as well as have additional capitalisation for when her products are in high demand. This is her fifth loan from the institution after repaying the latest one. She will use the earnings she makes for her children's education. Evelyn also wishes to become a large supplier of fish in the area. She intends to repay the loan over three months.
