Loan description:
Komi is 45 years old, married and a father to three children aged from five to twelve. They all attend school. Komi's wife is a retailer. The family live together in the neighbourhood of Atakpamé. In order to make a living, Komi remakes and sells wooden planks and chevrons that he purchases in a neighbouring town to Atakpamé. After buying the planks in a rough state, he saws them in his machines to give them a polished finish before storing them for sale in his shop, located in Agbo, Kpotamé. His customer base is chiefly composed of the town’s carpenters and joiners. Before taking on this business, Komi was himself a joiner but he seized the opportunity to sell on rough materials to his fellow joiners through his own business. However, as the demands of his business requires him sometimes to go out and spend several days in bushland, he is completely dedicated to it. Komi has made his first request for microcredit to allow him to expand his stock of planks and chevrons for his business. The loan is for 300,000 West African francs and will be repaid in twelve instalments. Komi’s ambition is to open up other points of sale in his town.
