Loan description:
Chhai Chhon is 48 years old and married with ten children who are aged between 6 and 28 years ole. His three youngest children study at the local school while his older children have their own jobs. They live in Andoung Trach village, which is in Sangke district, Battambang province. Chhai is a farmer. He cultivates just one hectare of land which yields about one and half tonnes of rice. He can grow rice twice a year. All the rice his land yields is for his family's own consumption. However, during the rainy season he also fishes in the nearby flooded forest. He sells most of his catch. To water his rice regularly he has applied for a loan to buy a water pump and gasoline. He hopes to repay the loan over five months.
