Loan description:
Sophea Mut is 32 years old and a widow with three daughters. Her children are aged between 3 and 8 years old and her two elder children are currently studying at the local state school. They live in Odambang village, which is in Sangke district, Battambang province. Sophea has been raising pigs from her home for over nine years. When she first started raising pigs, she raised only two piglets at a time but at the moment she has 24 pigs. Over the next four months all of her pigs will be ready to sell to the market. She calls local buyers and then they come to her house to negotiate the price. As her working capital is currently limited, she has borrowed some money in order to buy some more piglets, which she can raise once she has sold her current pigs and to buy some commercial feed for the pigs she has now. She promises to repay the loan over seven months.
