Loan description:

Liza Arro is 35 years old and married. She lives with her husband, Ruperto, in the neighbourhood of Laurel Street, which is in the town of Baybay, Leyte province. Liza and Ruperto do not have any children yet because they hope to establish themselves financially before they start a family. Liza and Ruperto manage a small vegetable stall in the town public market. For the past 4 years they have been selling fresh products like chayotes, bitter gourds, ginger, bell peppers and onions. Compared with previous years they are now able to sell a wide variety of vegetables and through their hard work have been able to buy a digital weighing scale to replace their old one. This new purchase has helped a lot in determining the actual weight of the products since they sell them on a per kilo basis. Liza is also assisted by two workers who are responsible for selling, arranging and storing the vegetables. Aside from their main products, they also offer a few stocks of canned goods and seasoning as a way to earn some additional income. Liza has been a member of the microfinance organisation, Zaragosa Agrarian Reform Cooperative, for two years and has availed and repaid seven previous loans. She was given a new loan to help her maintain and expand the stocks of vegetables she has. The income she will receive will be saved for their future family needs, especially when the time comes for them to have children. Liza dreams of having her own vegetable production business in the future. She plans to repay the loan over three months.
