Beltran

Loan description:

Beltran Labandero is 36 years and married with four children. Beltran and her family live in the neighbourhood of Poblacion, Pinamungajan which is in Cebu province. Her eldest child is 14 years old and a high school student while her other three children are aged 12, 11 and 7 and are all studying at the local elementary school. Together with her 40 year old husband, Narciso, Beltran runs a vulcanising shop. For the past 11 years, the shop has been offering different kinds of repair services for motorcycles, bicycles, jeepneys and cars and specialises in repairing tyres and wheels. Beltran’s shop also sells new stocks of tyres, oils and other useful accessories. People in the area can also get flat tyres repaired or inflated for a low cost at Beltran and her husband's shop. To ensure the safety of all her customers, she also started to sell helmets with various designs to protect them on their everyday journey and travel, especially those who ride motorcycles. She currently employs 11 part-time workers, 2 of whom are relatives. The microfinance organisation, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative, has supported Beltran’s business venture for the past 11 years. She has in fact received and repaid sixteen previous loans and with their help has managed to build and improve her business. The loan she received recently will be used to purchase more stocks of tyres and other supplies. It will also aid in her need to finance the salaries of her workers as well as her plan of improving the facilities of her shop. Beltran will maximise all her skills and abilities to give her children a good education. She will then save her earnings in her deposit account, which she has with LMPC. Beltram hopes to become a large vulcanising and repair shop in Cebu someday. She intends to repay the loan over a period of 18 months.
