Trinidad Detecio is a 54 years old and married with two dependents - her nieces who are 15 and 13. Both of them are currently studying in the local high school. Her husband Edward is a businessman. Their live in the neighbourhood of Poblacion, Pinamungajan in Cebu province where Trinidad manages a small convenience store. She sells general household foods such as biscuits, noodles, snack foods and soft drinks. She has even placed a small table and few chairs in front of the shop in order to accommodate customers who prefer to stay and eat what they have bought. She has managed the shop for the past three years. She applied to the microfinance organisation, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative, for a small loan in order to expand the shop. The loan, which is now her ninth loan, will be utilised in purchasing more stocks of instant noodles and soft drinks. She has been a member of the institution for almost three years. The proceeds she will receive are for the studies of her nieces. Trinidad hopes to build a larger convenience store someday. She intends to repay the loan over a short period of just three months.
