Alma Kukic is married and has two children. She lives with her family in the small town of Banovici which is near Tuzla in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina. She has two sons: Kenan who is 14 and Ajdin who is 17. Alma started own business raising poultry several years ago. In addition to raising chickens she has a cow and produces milk and cheese which she sells. She also does needlework on tablecloths and pillow cases. She sells these also. All these activities add to the family income and enable her children to continue in full time education. Alma has been a client of the microfinance institution 'Women for Women International' for the past six years. She applied for a loan in order to buy a heifer.
