Mary Jane Doble has managed her own clothes shop for the last five years. She is married with three children, all of whom are in school. Her family lives in the neighbourhood of Bitoon in the town of Daanbantayan which is in the province of Cebu. The shop however is in Paypay, where she rents a small stall. In addition to clothes, she has added a few popular basic foods such as sugar. Mary Jane applied for a three month loan from the microfinance organisation, First Consolidated, in order to buy new stock, particularly blouses, skirts, polo shirts and boxer shirts. The clothes are not expensive. Mary Jane's main aim is to ensure that the business generates enough for her to cover her household expenses and ensure that her children complete their education.
