Cambodia
Loan description:
Kosal Khon is 26 years old and married with two daughters aged 9 and 3. The elder one attends the local primary school. They live in Ko Kor village in Thmor Korl district in Battambang province. Her husband, Yan Ya, has worked as an itinerant trader for the past two years. He sells a variety of household items, including toys, balloons, clothes, shoes as well as kitchen utensils. Yan drives his motorcycle along Cambodia and Thailand border in areas such as Sampov Loun, Loem and Pailin selling his products from village to village. Each of the trips can take three or four days. The business is much slower during the rainy season when it is more difficult for him to make the journeys because of the state of the roads. Kosal applied for a loan in order to buy new stocks of goods. The loan is for five months. They want to save money to renovate their house eventually (the photographs show Yan on his motorcycle with goods he sells piled high).
